Matthew 18:21-35 Daily Gospel Reflection, Prayer, and Devotion for March 14, 2023

Today’s Gospel reading is taken from Matthew 18:21-35.

“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” Jesus replied, “No, not seven times, but seventy-seven times! For in the same way that God our Father has forgiven you throughout your life, so you must also forgive others their wrongs.”

From this passage we can learn that we are called to forgive those who wrong us whether it be once or many times. We should never think of forgiveness as conditional – for when we forgive it is means that we are choosing to let go of our hurt no matter how deep it may be.

Daily Gospel Reflection, Prayer, and Devotion for March 14, 2023

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, give us the strength to forgive those who have offended us even when it is hard. Help us to remember that your love and mercy knows no bounds and neither should ours. Amen.

Today’s devotion: To forgive is not an easy task but we must remember that we are called by God to do just this. Through His infinite love and grace He forgives us endlessly so let us take up the same attitude towards one another with humility and grace knowing that in doing so we reflect His glory upon the world.
