Matthew 5:17-19 Daily Gospel Reflection, Prayer, and Devotion for March 15, 2023

Today’s Gospel reading is taken from Matthew 5:17-19.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven.”

From this passage we can learn that Jesus did not come to abolish the law but rather to fulfill it. He came with a mission – to save us from our sins and make us anew so that we may live according to God’s commandments. We should strive to understand and obey His law faithfully even amidst hardship as His grace will see us through.
