Luke 11:14-23 Daily Gospel Reflection, Prayer, and Devotion for March 16, 2023

Today’s Gospel reading is taken from Luke 11:14-23.

“He was casting out a demon that was mute; when the demon had gone out, the one who had been mute spoke, and the crowds were amazed. But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.” Others, to test him, kept demanding from him a sign from heaven. But he knew what they were thinking and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself becomes a desert, and house divides against itself falls. If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? —for you say that I cast out the demons by Beelzebul.”

From this passage we can learn that Jesus knew what people were thinking even though they never said it aloud. He could see through their intentions as well as their doubts and address both to teach them a lesson about faith in God’s power over evil forces. We should remember that with God nothing is impossible and have unshakable faith that He will prevail no matter how difficult our situation may seem at face value.

Today’s devotion: Let us not forget that God has promised to be always with us and remind ourselves of His power over all forces of darkness whenever we get discouraged in life’s journey towards fulfilment of His will!
