Throughout history, people have been experiencing episodes of anger at varying intensities. Whether it’s with a close friend or family member, an acquaintance, an employer or employee, or even with strangers on the street, understanding what it is to be angry and how to cope with it can make all the difference in a person’s life.

What Causes People to Get Angry?

The typical causes of anger are pretty straightforward; when we feel threatened in any way, our body’s natural response is to become angry. It could be as simple as being surprised by something out of nowhere that unsettles us and causes us to feel defensive and reactive. Even a change in our environment (like windy weather) can cause us to become agitated very quickly. Other common causes of anger include frustration due to failed attempts or goals not being achieved; feeling powerless or helpless; feeling ignored or disrespected; feeling judged by others’ opinions and behavior; feeling violated through physical abuse or assault; envy at another’s successes over one’s own perceived failures; too much stress causing one’s emotions to be overwhelmed; and finally, guilt for past wrongdoings.

Dealing With Anger in Healthy Ways

When someone becomes angry, there are many ways that person can respond in order to process their feelings and remain calm and balanced. Firstly, take some time away from the situation until you have calmed down enough so that your emotions don’t dictate your behaviors. During this pause, it may help reflect on the actual cause behind your anger – was it really warranted or did you overreact? Talk it out with someone who won’t judge you – seek advice from a friend that you trust and can talk openly about whatever is bothering you without fear of criticism. If possible try writing down your thoughts on paper – writing forces us to look deeper into why we’re feeling this way and by seeing our words written down we’re able to understand ourselves better than ever before. Some people try visualization techniques such as imagining yourself somewhere calming while taking deep breaths – if nothing else this helps distract ourselves from whatever originally provoked us. Finally remember it’s okay to express your feelings but do so assertively not aggressively – name the problem specifically instead of pointing fingers at who created it and focus on finding solutions rather than placing blame for who caused the problem in the first place.

Learning How To Control Anger

Getting angry is an unavoidable part of life and sometimes it can be beneficial for getting tasks done more efficiently when channeled correctly. The key element here is channeling your emotion – don’t let it take control over you but rather learn how to manage your feelings so that you don’t act out impulsively due to reasoning beyond your control. Being mindful can go a long way because once we’ve noticed the warning signs we’re able to take preventative measures beforehand like avoiding certain situations that may set us off unnecessarily etcetera. Formulating healthy strategies such as distraction techniques (such as listening music) will also help soothe tensions before they reach boiling point- remember distraction isn’t always bad if used correctly! A big takeaway here is communicating effectively – talking calmly yet firmly allows both parties involved in an argument an opportunity express their grievances without resorting violence which often ends up escalating problems beyond anything previously imagined! Finally, learning how best everyone handles their own emotional states makes all the difference when dealing with different circumstances which spark anger within individuals- no two people have identical mindsets after all!
