Why does talking to my mom make me angry?

It’s so easy to get angry when talking to my mom, and it doesn’t make much sense. We’re two different people with two different communication styles and this often leads to miscommunication, misunderstandings, and anger on my end. After looking into why I get so frustrated with her so quickly, I’ve come up with several explanations.

Different Communication Styles

My mom and I cannot be more different when it comes to communication; while she is an outspoken person who likes to voice her opinion boldly, I tend to be more introverted and try not talk too much. This imbalance between us can sometimes lead me into a corner that ends up being frustrating for both of us. For example, I might try to get a word in edgewise but she will start talking over me or interrupting me which then leads me towards feeling angry for not being able to express myself fully in the conversation we are having.

Codependent Relationship

This codependent relationship that we have is both a blessing and a curse. It’s amazing in many ways as there is a strong bond between us but its also then harder for us to communicate properly without feeling like we need the other’s approval or support at all times due to how close this bond is. The pressure then intensifies during conversations as neither of us want let the other down or upset them – leading us both into difficult situations where we argue or show our frustration due to how important this relationship is for each of us .

Unmet Expectations

In addition, unmet expectations of how the other will act in certain situations could also be a cause for some of my frustrations when talking with my mother. If she does not respond in the way that I was expecting her too then this could lead me feeling disappointed towards her which could eventually turn into anger when communicating together if left unchecked. Although this expectation may not be consciously present at all times , it likely stems from past experiences between us that have shaped my subconscious expectations on how our conversations should go . In conclusion ,the reasons behind why I feel angry after speaking with my mom likely stem from various places such as our different communication styles ,codependent relationship ,and unmet expectations of each other . By recognizing these variables behind the scenes i hope that it can help guide us into more productive conversations that do not result in negative emotions such as anger and frustration when communicating together .
