Choose Life Scripture: Deuteronomy 30:15-20

In Deuteronomy 30:15-20, we are given a powerful choice between life and death. This choice is not just external, but it’s also internal — how we choose to think, act, and respond to the world around us. As followers of Jesus Christ, we know that living according to His will is life eternal (John 10:10).

While all parts of the Bible are important and have value, this passage in Deuteronomy brings special insight. In verse 16, Moses encourages the Israelites not to “set their hearts on what is evil” so they can prolong their lives. It applies to us today as well! We must choose our thoughts, desires, and actions according to God’s Word if we want to live long and full lives.

This passage also reminds us that following God isn’t always easy — there are times when it means walking away from temptations or difficult circumstances. But God has promised that those who trust Him will be blessed (Psalm 112:1)! So let’s make the decision each day to choose life by allowing God’s Spirit to guide our hearts and minds.

Let us pray that God will give us the strength and wisdom to choose life each day. Lord, help us to make wise decisions that are pleasing to You so we can have life and peace. Enable us to reject all evil desires, recognize deceptive influences, and follow Your paths of truth. Give us discernment and discipline so we can honor You every day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
