Romans 4:1-5, 13-17 is a powerful passage of scripture that speaks to the power of faith and grace offered to us through Jesus Christ. In these verses, Paul explains the deep significance of Abraham’s faith in God and the importance it has on us today.

Verse thirteen reads “For the promise to Abraham and his seed that he should be heir of the world did not come through law, but through righteousness of faith” (Romans 4:13). Here Paul reminds us that regardless of age or social standing, all who believe in Jesus Christ can become heirs of an eternal kingdom far more glorious than any place this earth could ever offer.
Verse fifteen further states “Because the law brings wrath; but where there is no law there is no transgression either” (Romans 4:15). This is a reminder of how sin has no hold over us because we are covered by Jesus’ grace when we accept Him as Lord; so there is no longer any reason for fear or guilt!
Finally, verse seventeen proclaims “God gives life to the dead and calls things which do not exist yet into being” (Romans 4:17). This speaks volumes about Gods great power and love for us – that He is able bring forth hope from even seemingly impossible situations!
