How to run a Church Youth Group?

Running a youth group at your local church can be a rewarding experience, but it does require some organization and hard work. In this blog post, we’ll cover the basics of setting up and running a successful youth group within your church.

The first step is to decide who is going to be the leader or leaders of the youth group. At most churches, there are usually two or more adults in charge; these could be members of the congregation, teachers, or others with a background in leading children’s activities. It can also be really helpful to have a couple of older teens or young adults as part of the leadership team too—not only can they help mentor younger kids, but they offer insight into what kinds of activities might interest them.

Once you have chosen your leaders, it’s important to set clear expectations and goals for the group—this will give everyone involved an idea of what success looks like for the group. It’s also useful to decide on how often your group will meet: weekly? Biweekly? Monthly? Once you figure out what works best for everyone involved in terms of scheduling, make sure to communicate this with both parents and kids so that everyone knows when and where meetings are happening.

When it comes time for planning activities for your youth group meetings, there are lots of options available! Depending on their ages and interests, you could plan bible study sessions and discussions around scripture readings; host fun games such as scavenger hunts; organize seasonal events like visits to zoos or pumpkin patches; coordinate field trips; lead crafts such as making homemade greeting cards; plan sports tournaments; organize movie nights with snacks; do volunteer work in the community…the list goes on! Try to think outside the box while still keeping everyone safe—get creative!

Finally, every youth group should have a few rules in place which outlines basic ground rules regarding behaviour during meetings—no swearing or bullying, no alcohol or drugs etcetera. Make sure all participants know about these guidelines prior to attending any events so that expectations are understood by all.

We hope that after reading through this blog post you feel well-equipped to launch your own successful youth group at your local church! With clear guidance from adult leaders plus lots of enthusiasm from both young people and parents alike, it won’t take long before you start seeing great outcomes from your effort.
